Scholarships


The following is a partial list of scholarships available for UWF Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) students.  You may use Scholarships Application Formto apply for any (or all) of these scholarships except the SAME amd IT Performance scholarships (please see the respective entries for application details).  Note that receipt of a scholarship may impact your financial aid, so please check with the financial aid office before applying.  The ECE Scholarship Committee has the final determination on who receives these scholarships. 

To apply for a scholarship, fill out and submit a copy of Scholarships Application Form to one of the people listed.  The due date for scholarship applications is July 1 for consideration for the following school year. 

The scholarship committee typically meets in July.  You should be notified of any Fall award by mid August.  If you remain eligible, you should get a renewal award letter by early December.  Note that you do not need to re-apply for the Spring semester

If you do not receive an award for Fall, we will hold your application on file in case scholarship money becomes available at a later time.

Dr. Paul & Majes-Maggie Hsu Scholarship
Criteria:  Part-time or full-time students with a minimum GPA of 3.0.    Preference will be given to Cyntech, Total Parts, and Actigraph employees, employee’s family who are eligible for the scholarship.  If you are an employee of any of these companies, please submit your completed application through Maria Arnett (maria.arnett@actigraphcorp.com)
Amount of the award:  $500 per semester

ECE Alumni Scholarship
Criteria:  Full or part time students in Electrical/Computer Engineering (including pre-electrical/computer engineering) with cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Amount of the award:  $500 per semester

Future Women Engineers Scholarship
Criteria: Full time female student in Electrical/Computer Engineering (including pre-electrical/computer engineering) with cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Amount of the award: Typically $500 per semester. 

Gulf Power Pre-professional Scholarship
Criteria:  Pre-professional scholarship for student whose academic achievement warrants the award.   Minimum 3.0 GPA. 
Amount of the award:  $500 per semester

The Islamic Center of Northwest Florida Engineering Scholarship
Criteria:  Full or part time students in Electrical/Computer Engineering (including pre-electrical/computer engineering) with cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Amount of the award:  $500 per semester

IT Gulf Coast Barry Brosch Memorial Scholarship
Criteria:  Full or part time students in Computer Engineering (including pre-computer engineering) with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Amount of the award:  Minimum of $500 per year

National Defense Industrial Association Scholarship
Criteria:  Scholarship for individuals from the greater Eglin community enrolled at UWF REEF campus.  Minimum GPA of 2.5 or above, demonstrated financial need and pursuing a BS in an engineering field.
Amount of the Award:  Typically $500 per semester 

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) (Pensacola Post) Scholarship
Criteria: Scholarships for students residing in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties who are enrolled in engineering or technology programs. For more information and to apply, contact the Financial Aid Office. 

Stanley E. Stephenson Engineering Scholarship
Criteria: Full time students in Electrical/Computer Engineering (including pre-electrical/computer engineering) with cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Amount of Award: $500 per semester

Undergraduate IT Performance Scholarships
Criteria: Full time juniors in Computer Engineering in good academic standing.  To continue receiving the scholarship, student must maintain a 2.5 GPA in major related courses, attend Fall and Spring full time, and must take at least 2 courses over the summer.
Amount of Award:   $1000 per semester for 4 consecutive semesters plus one summer award of $500.

Microsoft Security+ Certification Scholarships
Competitive Microsoft Security+ Certification Scholarships are available for students in the following majors: BS/CS, BS/CIS, BS/SE, BS/Cybersecurity, IT, CE, and MIS. This scholarship will give the student an opportunity to register (registration will be free) in a preparatory class for Microsoft Security+ in the summer. And, the student will be ready to take the professional Microsoft Security+ certification exam by the end of the summer semester.
Eligibility criteria:
1. Must be in good academic standing.
2. Must have completed at least 90 hours by the end of Spring 2014.
3. Must graduate by Spring 2015.
This award will cover:
1. The cost of being registered in the preparatory class for Microsoft Security+.
2. The course material and transcender costs.
3. The exam fee.

The student will be responsible for buying books for this course.  Preference will be given to students who are close to graduation. Click for application form >

Students will be notified whether or not they received this scholarship by Friday, May 2nd
