Mission Statement
The mission of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is to offer baccalaureate degree programs of excellence in electrical engineering and computer engineering that serve the needs of the West Florida region, the state, and the nation. The goal of the baccalaureate degree programs is to prepare students to embark upon professional careers in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or to pursue graduate study.

Goals
The goal of the baccalaureate degree programs is to prepare students to embark upon professional careers in electrical or computer engineering, or to begin graduate study. The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the University of West Florida also takes an active role in interacting with practicing engineers who supply information pertinent to our program content so as to insure our students are prepared to enter the engineering profession. Such interaction with engineers and employers also facilitates program development that addresses the continuing education needs of our community.

Electrical Engineering Program Objectives
Graduates will be known for their accomplishments in the early stage of their careers and they should:

  • Develop electrical engineering solutions either individually or through interdisciplinary teams within a global and societal context.
  • Professionally and ethically, engage in technical or business activity through engineering ability, communication skills, and knowledge.
  • Continue professional growth through post-graduate education, continuing education, or professional activity.
  • Contribute to the Northwest Florida regional economic development.

Computer Engineering Program Objectives

  • Professionally and ethically, engage in technical or business activity through engineering ability, communication skills, and knowledge.
  • Continue professional growth through post-graduate education, continuing education, or professional activity.
  • Contribute to the Northwest Florida regional economic development.
