Academic Merit Scholarship

Purpose: To award the best academically prepared students from the public high schools in Florida.

Criteria: Students who have a class rank of number one through five after the first semester of their senior year.
Enrollment: These scholarships start with the Fall 2012 semester. Must be enrolled full-time.
Amount: Scholarships which will cover tuition. Bright Futures Scholarship recipients who receive the Academic Merit Scholarships can use the Bright Futures monies for remaining costs, including on-campus housing, transportation, meal plan or books.

John C. Pace, Jr. Achievement Scholarship for Continuing Undergraduate Students

Purpose: For continuing full-time undergraduate degree-seeking students. Renewable up to a maximum of four semesters. Four to eight students awarded for Fall and Spring semesters.
Criteria: Candidate must be in good standing at UWF.
Enrollment: Must be enrolled full-time.
Amount: Fluctuates, generally $250-500 per semester.

Lancy C. Jen Scholarship for Excellence

Purpose: The scholarship awards eligible full-time undergraduate student for achievement.
Criteria: Based on academic achievement, maintain GPA of 3.0.
Enrollment: Must be enrolled full-time.
Amount: One award of $500 per year.

Nick Johnson Academic Scholarship

Purpose: Provide scholarship award to outstanding undergraduate student.
Criteria: Based on academic achievement, cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Enrollment: Must be enrolled full-time.
Amount: One award of $500 per semester (excluding Summer).
Michael Page Douglas Memorial Endowment Scholarship
Purpose: Provide scholarship award to juniors or above.
Criteria: Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
Enrollment: Must be enrolled full-time.
Amount: One award of $500 per year (excluding summer).

UWF Foundation Study Abroad Scholarship

The Office of Diversity and International Education and Programs is happy to announce opportunities for Summer Study Abroad. Summer experiences offer a chance to study for a shorter term and for less money than traditional semester-long programs. Students have the opportunity to earn UWF credit while studying in another country and experiencing a new culture. Applicants for Study Abroad Programs must have a minimum 2.5 GPA; some programs require a higher GPA.

The University of West Florida Foundation offers scholarships based on financial need, statement of purpose and academic achievement. Students applying for the Foundation Scholarship must have completed the application for their chosen program by the Scholarship Application Deadline of February 18, 2013. Scholarship applicants who have not completed their program application will not be considered. The UWF Foundation Study Abroad Scholarship is open to students applying to any location for Fall 2012, Spring 2013 and Summer 2013. Foundation Study Abroad Scholarship Applications are available on the Study Abroad Scholarship Page and in the Office of Diversity and International Education and Programs.

Summer programs have the same requirements for eligibility and application as fall/spring exchanges. Application materials and deadlines vary and additional items may be required for some programs. Students must apply through the Office of Diversity and International Education and Programs. All participants must attend an orientation before they leave UWF for their abroad experience. Contact the Office of Diversity and International Education and Programs at 474-2479 or email Sara Brake at sbrake@uwf.edu for more information about a specific summer study abroad opportunity.
