An Assessment of the Source of Sewage Waste Input into Coldwater and Pond Creeks
Bay Area Resource Council

PI: Richard A. Snyder
This project, supported by the West Florida Regional Planning Council, aims to determine if the increased bacterial counts detected in Coldwater and Pond Creeks, Santa Rosa County, have resulted from an increase in direct input (from human or domestic animal sources) or due to habitat destruction and decreased natural attenuation mechanisms. Environmental samples are being analyzed for bacterial abundance and source, as well as inorganic nutrients, to identify input to area streams. The resulting data will assist the county and state regulatory agencies to develop appropriate management plans to improve the water quality of the two creek drainages.
