Graduate Program Options


HAVE YOU CONSIDERED
GRADUATE SCHOOL IN BIOLOGY/ALLIED HEALTH AT
THE UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA?

Three options are available at UWF for students seeking a graduate degree in Biology:

BIOLOGY MS WITH THESIS (33 sh) – The thesis program is a research oriented degree designed for  students seeking advanced studies in modern biology and biotechnology with training in the fields of fisheries biology, biochemistry, parasitology, ecology, genetics, immunology, marine biology, molecular biology, microbiology and plant science.

BIOLOGY MS NON-THESIS SPECIALIZATION IN COASTAL ZONE STUDIES (36 sh) – Students will learn methods to identify and solve problems, management practices and procedures for policy-making pertinent to coastal zones.

BIOLOGY MS NON-THESIS SPECIALIZATION IN ENVIRONMENTAL BIOLOGY (36 sh) – There is a great demand from local, state and federal government, as well as from industry, for students with a strong background in environmental biology.  This degree is designed to provide that background and position students for jobs in the environmental arena.

MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH DEGREE (42 sh -completely on-line) – The MPH is designed to provide students with a multi-disciplinary perspective on public health to prepare them to work in the field of public health.  The MPH is the most widely recognized credential for leadership in public health and is considered the professional degree in the field.  It is estimated that half the workforce in public health at the state and federal levels will retire in the next 5 years.
