Jillian Utter received a history degree with a minor in anthropology at the University of Southern Indiana. During her undergraduate career, she was awarded funding to conduct research in cemeteries to examine the relationship between the living and the dead through decorated headstones. The findings were presented at the Endeavor! Symposium. As a research assistant, Jillian analyzed prehistoric artifacts for a report published in a chapter of "An Exceedingly Industrious Race of People": Investigations at the Harmonist Redware Kiln Site (12 Po 1288), Posey County, Indiana. Her main interests include Fur Trade Studies, Spanish Colonial Archaeology, Ceramic and Lithic Analysis, Contact Period, and Mortuary Practices.
