Jennifer McNiven

Jennifer McNiven is from Albany, NY. Anthropology is a second career for Jennifer, who has a bachelor's degree in Theatre from SUNY Oswego and spent several years as an actor in New York before pursuing a second degree in Archaeology and Ancient History from the University of Leicester. Her travels as a military spouse have taken her to Mississippi and Texas, where she worked on prehistoric sites with the Corpus Christi Museum of History and Science.

She has been teaching anthropology for the TRIO-Upward Bound summer-on-campus program for at-risk high school students at Clovis Community College in Clovis, NM. Jennifer is also finishing her thesis, which is centered around excavations at Area A of the Arcadia Mill Industrial Complex and is titled "The Question of Anomalies in Slave Archaeology: Evidence from an Antebellum Industrial Site."

In the world of social media, Jennifer is the creator and host of an archaeology podcast called "The Struggling Archaeologist's Guide to Getting Dirty" which can be found on iTunes or The podcast can be followed on twitter@strugglingarch
