Jayne Godfrey received her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Environmental Studies from Western Michigan University in 2012. In undergraduate, she worked at Fort St. Joseph, a 16th century mission-garrison trading post in Niles, Michigan, and in the Finger Lakes Region of New York doing 19th century farmstead archaeology. Her main focus is maritime archaeology, although she is also interested in colonial and pre-historic terrestrial archaeology.
