Elizabeth Murphy is originally from the Washington, D.C. area. She graduated from the University of West Florida in 2007 with a B.A. in Anthropology, specializing in Archaeology. Her academic interests include the Spanish colonial period, urban archaeology, maritime cultural landscapes, Geographic Information Systems, Hypack, underwater methodologies, and predictive modeling. She has worked on both terrestrial and maritime archaeological projects throughout the Florida panhandle and in portions of coastal Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. Her thesis research is aimed at synthesizing past survey, historical, archaeological, environmental, and meteorological data to form a comprehensive, holistic predictive model for the remaining Luna shipwrecks and settlement site in and around Pensacola Bay, Florida.
