On behalf of UWF Career Services, thank you for your interest in our students and alumni. We are excited to be a part of your recruitment efforts. UWF Career Services offers a comprehensive employment program to help employers find the right employee.
Effective organizations understand that it is essential to utilize one or more methods of publicity to sell their services. However, we often forget to market in the same way to potential employees. Name recognition is essential to attracting students. The following are tips of some of the more effective methods to use in making students aware of your organization’s visit to campus. Advance promotion is especially helpful if you are planning your first visit to the University of West Florida.
In addition to the below marketing efforts, there are a variety of other programs that have been successful for both employers and students. Check out a full listing of our Employer Events.
- ADVERTISE! JasonQuest, the on-line career database for the University of West Florida student body, is a great way to announce your Info Session, Reception, On-Campus Recruiting date, and more. Used exclusively by University of West Florida students and alumni, it is one of the most effective ways to get the word out. Lastly, we suggest flyers, posters, and on-campus breezeway tables as a way to promote your visit to the student body.
- OUTREACH! Ask a Career Services staff member for contact with a faculty member in a desired field, this is an effective way to market your visit to students. Developing these relationships will definitely make a difference in your recruitment strategy. Student organizations are another resource available to you. Career Services staff members can assist you in making these contacts.
- INFO SESSION! Before your interviews, make sure to schedule an Info Session (usually the evening before). These sessions are a great way to educate students
on your company and allow for networking. If this is your first time on campus,
hosting an Info Session is crucial.
- ATTEND A CAREER FAIR! UWF Career Services hosts a Career Fair every Fall and Spring semester. This fair is open to all majors and disciplines. Fairs are a great way for students to network with recruiters from a variety of industries. While these events are not aimed at securing an employment offer, they are a great way to begin the recruiting process.
- BE VISIBLE! Don't just recruit once a year on campus--make your presence known all year round by conducting workshops, speaking to classes, hosting receptions and more. With the large number of companies that recruit on campus, you don't want students to forget about your organization.
- PARTNER! Become a UWF Career Services Employer Partner by supporting ongoing programs/service. By becoming a partner you will establish a strong presence on campus, but more importantly, you will be providing direct support to our students.
