The Vice President for Business, Finance, & Facilities, Dr. Susan Stephenson, will hold open office hours for Business, Finance, & Facilities staff on March 27, 2:30-4:30 p.m. No appointments are necessary. The Business, Finance, & Facilities Town Hall meeting that was scheduled for March 4, 2014, 9:00-10:30 a.m., will be rescheduled to a later date.
The first of March 2014, our office will begin to work on gathering budget information for the estimated budget for FY 14-15 from the departments for the following funds: Auxiliary, Contract & Donations (which includes Sponsored Research), Athletics, Student Activity, Financial Aid (which includes Scholarship and Loans), Concessions, Technology, and Board Approved Fees (Green Fees). Also, our office will start running processes weekly to verify that we've used the correct coding for our FY 13-14 expenditures to be submitted as part of the Operating Budget File that is required each year by the Board of Governors (BOG).
The Spring Vending Promotion is Underway - The Spring vending promotion has begun and runs Feb. 17 - April 11 with the Grand Prize Drawing to be held on April 14. Purchase a bottled beverage from a vending machine on campus. If it has an Instant-Winner Sticker on it, take it to the Auxiliary Services office, Building 20W, Room 151 where you will receive your Instant-Winner prize and be registered for the Grand Prize Drawing for a Yeti Cooler or an IPad. Copy Services Provides Paper for Copiers - All copiers provided by Copy Services are on a cost-per-copy basis that includes the cost of paper. New Stamps-By-Campus-Mail form - UWF Postal Services offers an easy and convenient U.S. Postal Service stamp delivery service to all UWF staff and faculty. They can save a trip to the Post Office and have stamps, stamp booklets, stamp coils, stamped envelopes, etc. delivered to their office in Campus Mail. Just print and complete the Stamps-By-Campus-Mail form. and place it in Campus Mail. Your order will be delivered on the next delivery to your office. Business Reply Mail Envelope changes. If your office uses postage paid Business Reply Mail (BRM) envelopes in your mailings, you need to make sure that the preprinted envelopes use the new Intelligent Mail Bar Code at the bottom. The U.S. Postal Service has "retired" the old Postnet bar code, and will charge UWF extra for older envelopes using the old bar code. East Campus Restaurant Development -The UWF BEI Board of Directors approved the agreement at the Feb. 17, 2014 meeting, and the full Board of Trustees is scheduled to consider ratification of the agreement during its March 26, 2014 meeting.
University of West Florida Business Enterprises, Inc. is moving forward with plans to transform the University's east campus entrance at the intersection Hwy. 90 and Campus Drive into a vibrant atmosphere featuring restaurants and retail facilities. The UWF Board of Trustees Finance and Facilities Committee ratified the Development Agreement and Right of Entry document for the East Campus Restaurant Development Site during its meeting February 25, 2014.
Pending consideration of the full Board of Trustees approval, on-site construction is scheduled to begin in Spring 2014. A Project Commencement Ceremony will also be held in late Spring 2014, and some of the restaurants are expected to open in Winter 2014. Three venues, yet-to-be determined will be restaurants and one program (i.e., FedEx, UPS, etc.) business. Pending outcomes from contract negations, BEI plans to initiate construction during Spring 2014 and occupy during late December, 2014.
University Park -The Pre-Development phase is nearing completion to create an acceptable business plan for viable/achievable component priorities. The goal will be to complete the subsequent Development phase to enable site work to begin within the 42 - acre mixed-use development during Fall 2014. Occupancy of Phase I components is planned for August, 2016.
Northwest Retirement Village -This proposed 55+ active independent living community will be located on 289 acres of west campus. There will be internal strategic discussion based on the report and interrelationship with academic programs.
Facilities Development and Operations (FDO)
Renovation Request - Campus constituents requesting projects have 2 options, a) Submit a "Construction Project and Space Form," throughout the calendar year by calling Mark Pursell, Ext. 3240, or Robin Anderson, Ext. 3427, or completing the forms available on the "Facilities Development and Operations" web site, or b) The Facilities Planning Advisory Committee (F.P.A.C.), represented by all University Divisions, soliciting projects has concluded. The F.P.A.C. will meet Thursday, March 6, 2014.
The College of Business: Phase III of III design negotiations have been completed for renovations of Buildings 53, 74, and 76. Renovations will begin during the spring of 2014. Construction management negotiations are in progress. This is a $8.4 million State of Florida appropriated project funded last spring.
The Recreation Field Improvements near Building 90 and East Campus Tennis Court, Phase I of II projects is in progress. Completion of the Recreation Field Improvements is scheduled for October, 2014. Funding was obtained from student fees.
