Jerry Conover will be taking over the reins of the
Indiana Business Research Center (IBRC) in the Kelley School
of Business at Indiana University this summer. Morton Marcus,
former president of AUBER and long-time supporter of the association,
is retiring this fall after 30 years at the IBRC helm. Previously
the director of the Bureau of Business and Economic Research
in the College of Business Administration at Northern Arizona
University, Conover is a former member of the AUBER Board
of Directors.
Mark Berger, director of the Center for Business and
Economic Research at the University of Kentucky, passed away
April 30. He was 47. Director of the center since 1995, Berger
coordinated several research projects, including analyses
of the state's unemployment insurance, Medicaid, cash-assistance
programs, taxation in Kentucky, and regional economic development.
He is survived by his wife, Pam, and three children.
"Walking in Memphis." Cindy DiPersio, University
of Colorado at Boulder; Carol Griffen, University of Florida;
and Dee Jones, formerly with the University of Louisiana at
Monroe, recently met in Memphis to renew friendships. Stephen
Smith, University of Memphis, hosted the gathering. The group
toured the Bureau of Business and Economic Research at the
University of Memphis, which is headed by John Gnuschke, and
enjoyed the sights, sounds, and tastes of Memphis. AUBER friendships:
