A New Direction for Fall Confrence

This October, you have the opportunity to be a part of something special: the 2003 Fall AUBER Conference. Make your plans now to attend.

There will be a slight diversion from our normal set of presentations. In the past, AUBER has traditionally presented two separate tracks of sessions: one for directors and one for editors. However, at the last fall conference in Las Vegas, it became clear that the group-formally-known-as-editors consisted of more than just editors. And, those who held an editor spot with their department often did more than just edit. Therefore, the decision was made that the editors would now be research communicators to reflect the diversity of the people involved in this group. More importantly, this decision would open the door for more AUBER members to attend AUBER conferences.

The planning committee readily accepted this change and is developing a program for the fall conference that will encompass the needs of all AUBER members. Not to sound superficial, but the committee is excited not only about the challenge and the content of this conference but also about the potential this change can have on the future of AUBER.

This change is necessary for the health and growth of AUBER. Yes, there will still be sessions devoted solely to publications. But, we will now have more sessions devoted to research. AUBER has the potential for new members, new ideas, and new growth.

This fall conference will be different. As Martha Stewart would say, "and that's a good thing.”
