The focus of this session will be on GIS applications for economic development.

Royal Room Performing a Public Relations Audit
Evaluating success is a crucial part of the communication process - and the best way to improve your effectiveness. Communication audits allow you to analyze your strategy implementation and how well it achieves your communication objectives. Though universally beneficial, communication audits are underutilized. Learn to develop a key plan to lead your client, your organization, and yourself to more effective communication. Topics and discussion points include: customizing your communication audit to the organization and its objectives, evaluating an organization's environment, assessing past and current communication efforts for maximum success, determining what communication tactics will best serve the organization in the future, and enhancing the tools in the communicator's toolbox to achieve communication goals.
Presiding: Susan Floyd, University of Florida

John Deveney, Deveney Communications
La Nouvelle Orleans East Data Warehouse Web Sites
Most AUBER units are sitting on tons of data, data that can be mined over their web sites. But many units are also hampered by the twin enemies of great work - time and money! This session will focus on one center's approach to the problem of too much data, not enough time. The Indiana Business Research Center has developed a set of programs that allow them to provide their web users with basic interactivity and avoid the problems of "static" pages and the updating nightmares that surely make the word "static" an oxymoron.
