Member | General Guidelines
Fellow of
AUBER Award
Nominees in this category should meet all or substantially
all of the criteria listed below. The organization may award
one fellow per year.
Criteria:
1. May be an active or retired member of the organization
2. AUBER member for 12 years
3. Held leadership role in center at host institution
4. Served on AUBER board of directors in leadership capacity
5. In addition, this individual will have provided significant
leadership and substantial service to the organization.
Some examples include:
- Chaired committees
- Frequent conference session organizer/participant
- Host and/or program chair of fall conference
- Acted as AUBER liaison in partnerships with other
organizations
Thayne Robson Award
This award honors the late Thayne Robson, past president
and long-time supporter of AUBER. The criteria listed below
embody the spirit of the man who was a friend and mentor to
many in the organization. Nominees in this category should
meet all or substantially all of the criteria. The association
does not expect to present this award every year.
Criteria:
1. May be an active or retired member of the organization
2. AUBER member for 15 years
3. Held leadership role in center (director or equivalent)
at host institution
4. Served on AUBER board of directors in leadership capacity
5. Provided outstanding service to the organization.
6. Exhibited selfless, exceptional, and long-term commitment
to the association
7. Tireless promoter of AUBER and its members
8. Mentor to association members
9. An economic and public policy leader in their state
Honorary Member
Nominees in this category should meet all or substantially
all of the criteria listed below. All AUBER members including
directors, research staff and research communicators are eligible.
More than one Honorary Membership may be awarded per year.
Criteria:
1. About to retire or recently retired from an AUBER unit,
or is no longer with an AUBER unit
2. AUBER member for 10 years
3. Served on AUBER board of directors
4. In addition, the individual provided significant overall
contributions to the organization including but not limited
to the following:
- Participated on/chaired committees
- Significant and frequent conference session contributor--speaking
and/or chairing
- Host and/or program chair of fall conference
Exception:
Honorary membership will be considered for non-AUBER members
who have provided outstanding service to or support of the
organizations and its goals. These individuals should be
about to retire or recently retired from their AUBER-related
organization.
General Guidelines
No self-nominations will be accepted for Honorary Member,
Fellow of AUBER, or the Thayne Robson Award.
All nominations require a letter or e-mail specifically addressing
the qualifications of the nominee. Assume that the committee
members do not know the nominee, and give them enough information
to make an informed decision. Please refer to the criteria
for each award when writing your nomination. (Reviewing your
nominee’s vita may be a good way of gathering the relevant
information.)
For Honorary Membership, nominations should be addressed
to the Chair of the Membership Committee, Jim Kurre. For Fellow
of AUBER and Thayne Robson Award, nominations should be addressed
to the Chair of the Commendations Committee, Rich Wobbekind
. Multiple letters of support for a given nominee are welcomed
and encouraged.
