This lesson provides an overview of aspects related to Afghan society. It begins with an introduction to the sacred view of family and family life, an explanation of the traditional roles of men and women, and dress and appearance of both males and females in the Afghan culture. You will learn about various housing situations in different areas and the state of utilities and public services throughout the country, including power, transportation and communication.  Issues related to healthcare, poverty and crime will be introduced, in addition to class differences and the state of the educational system. You will learn about the progress being made in these areas and that there is much work to be done. You will discover what Afghans do for recreation and what they celebrate as important public holidays. By the end of this lesson, you should be able to complete the following learning objectives.
