UWF on YouTube^TM!

The University of West Florida now has a presence on YouTube^TM. Currently the site contains UWF promotional videos, Inside UWF video casts, and the State of the Unversity Address by President Cavanaugh. YouTube^TM is a great way to promote the University. YouTube Facts:

• Born Valentine's Day 2005, YouTube has grown into a cultural phenomenom and draws a viewership larger than most cable channels.
• The user base is 18-55, spanning all geographies.
• 70% of YouTube’s registered users are American and roughly half are under 20 years of age.
• Almost 70% of the online population has watched online video and the average consumer watches 73 minutes of online video a month.
• YouTube has grown from roughly 58,000 monthly visitors in August 2005 to more than 20 million 2006.
• According to May, 2006 data from Hitwise the top five video sites are:

  * YouTube: 42.94%
  * MySpace Video: 24.22%
  * Yahoo! Video Search: 9.58%
  * MSN Video Search: 9.21%
  * Google Video: 6.48%

Your Class on YouTube^TM!

Videos can be either public or private, however private videos are restricted to 25 unique accounts. If you would like to post a video of a class lecture, field school or class activity, please contact Bill Harrison at 473-7088.
