The Academic Technology Center is host to many projects and research tied to best practices in distance and mobile learning. Formed in 2003, the ATC conducts extensive faculty development and consultation for online course development. As well, ATC's R&D efforts include congressional earmarks to conduct research on the use of mobile learning as a means for continuing off-duty education when deployed. Most recently, ATC was awarded a congressional earmark to develop and implement Arabic Language and Culture to service members around the world via an ultra-portable device. As well, ATC conducts ongoing research on best practices in online learning, interaction in online learning, social learning and collaboration tools for student engagement, and online assessment practices.
