The Academic Technology Center is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Jill T. White as a UWF Quality Matters Scholar! Dr. White graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1993 with a doctorate in Technological and Adult Education. Her educational background includes 21 years of teaching experience in secondary, community college, and university education settings. In 2003 Dr. White served as the College of Professional Studies NCATE Coordinator. She is now an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering and Computer Technology at the University of West Florida where she directs and delivers the Career and Technical Education undergraduate and graduate curriculum online. Her research interests include information literacy, teachers' concerns, and advances in Career and Technical Education. Dr. White currently serves as the liaison between the University of West Florida and Workforce Development in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. Her work with the Next Generation Learning Community (NGLC) has included coordinating workshops with FordPAS to afford teachers an opportunity to participate in curriculum redesign to meet educational reform.
As a QM Scholar, Dr. White will help promote the use of the QM process as a strategy to improve the quality of existing online courses at UWF. She will work with groups of faculty using the QM Rubric Standards for online course design with the goal of designing or redesigning their online course(s) to meet QM expectations through internal and external peer reviews. Dr. White completed training to become a Quality Matters (QM) Certified Peer Reviewer and is currently enrolled in the QM training that will allow her to facilitate an online version of the Applying the QM Rubric workshop for faculty within UWF.
