Faculty Highlights: Dr. Richard Faessel

Richard Faessel

Congratulations to Dr. Faessel! The Academic Technology Center is proud to announce that Quality Matters (QM) certification has been awarded to Dr. Richard Faessel for his fully-online course, EDF1005 - Introduction to Education. His course was reviewed and recognized by an external Peer Review Team as aligning to national standards of best practice in online course design. Richard received a $1000 stipend from ATC for his work to redesign his course to align to QM standards. His course is now listed in the QM national database (http://www.qmprogram.org/qmresources/courses/index.cfm) of quality online courses.

Richard was born in Newport R.I. He received his doctorate from the University of West Florida in Curriculum and Instruction. His current position is a Research Associate and the TK20 Administrator in the School of Education. Richard's area of concentration has been in instructional technology. He has developed online curriculum as an adjunct instructor in addition to serving as the technical coordinator for the College of Professional Studies. He has been teaching and training in both education and private industry for 20 years. Richard's research interests include the effects of computer based instruction on self-regulation and motivation among middle school students.
