Faculty Highlights: Aileen Trotter

AileenCongratulations to Aileen Trotter! The Academic Technology Center is proud to announce that Aileen's fully online course - CGS2060 - Excursions in Computing, was reviewed and recognized by an external Quality Matters (QM) Peer Review Team as having met quality expectations in online course design.

Reviewers from other institutions across the United States, trained in applying the Quality Matters rubric standards, designated Aileen's course as being aligned to national standards of best practice in online course design. Taking the students' perspective with regard to clarity and organization of an online course, reviewers provide feedback on course design by awarding points for specific review standards.

Aileen Trotter graduated from Georgia Tech in the 1990s with a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in the field of Environmental Engineering.  Since she was frequently responsible for the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the computer systems in the offices where she worked, she decided to go back to school to obtain a degree in the Information Technology field at the University of West Florida.  After finishing her undergraduate degree, she continued her education at the University of West Florida, earning a Master of Science in Administration degree, specializing in Database Administration.  While working on her MSA, Aileen was the Graduate Assistant for the Excursions in Computing class.  She began teaching in January 2013 as an online instructor.

In preparation for her QM course review, Aileen successfully completed the following professional development opportunities offered by ATC:

  • Designing a Quality Online Course
  • Teaching a Quality Online Course

Thanks and appreciation to Aileen for her work and dedication to quality online teaching!
