The Academic Technology Center is proud to recognize Amber Bloechle for achieving internal Quality Matters (QM) Certification of her fully online course - GIS3015 - Cartographic Skills + Lab.
Amber Bloechle is a UWF graduate with a B.S. in Environmental Policy and a M.S. in Environmental Science with a specialization GIS for coastal and environmental applications. Amber has been involved with the Online GIS Certificate Program from the time of its conception in 2004 first as a Graduate Assistant and course developer, then Coordinator, now Director, and teaching online courses since 2007. Prior to working full-time for the certificate program, she worked as a contract GIS Analyst for both private and federal government sectors. GIS projects ranged from the EPA’s Gulf of Mexico Hypoxia Project, beach berm analysis, flood mapping, hurricane impact analyses and inundation mapping. She also assisted and taught professional GIS training courses to local GIS practitioners. These workshop-type courses inspired what is now the Continuing Education GIS Training Academy. Amber has set a goal to receive QM recognition for the Online GIS Certificate Program. This course is the first to seven total courses in the Certificate program to be reviewed. Of six instructors, three (including Amber) have completed QM training offered by ATC and two are qualified by QM as course reviewers.
