Instructor presence in an online course is one of the strongest factors cited for contributing to student success. But what is meant by presence and how can you achieve it? There are many forms of "presence" an instructor may have in a course but we will focus on two: social presence and teaching presence.
Successful online instructors maintain a visible presence throughout the duration of the course by communicating, interacting, motivating, and supporting online students.*
