Teaching your Online Course

Getting Ready Checklist

Ensure your course technology codes have been set in Classmate to designate course as an eLearning course:
  • Access Classmate from the Classmate tab in MyUWF
  • The eLearning tech code must be set:
    • To enroll students into the course shell
    • Before course sections can be linked

After the complete course has been developed, test all aspects of the course from the student's perspective including:
  • course navigation
  • content accuracy
  • content and media display
  • internal and external links
  • functionality of individual course components

For previously developed courses:
  • In addition to completing some of the items above, there is course maintenance that you will need to complete each semester for course copied from a previous semester. Here are some suggested tasks:
    • Make minor updates to content (as needed)
    • Make any necessary changes to your schedule and syllabus (check assignment due dates)
    • Check release dates for content, quizzes, dropbox, etc.
    • Make calendar entries

Once your course begins, you will:
  • Facilitate and manage all aspects of your online course
  • Update your course information as needed
  • Interact and communicate with your students online via discussions, chat or Elluminate Live! sessions
  • Monitor your students' interactions and communications
  • Provide timely feedback and grades on questions and assignments/assessments
  • Track student progress
