Quality Online Instructor Certificate
The Quality Online Instructor Certificate is awarded to faculty who successfully complete the Quality Online Teaching series of courses offered through ATC. The courses are designed and instructed by Dr. Nancy Hastings, Online Faculty and QM Scholar.
The course descriptions are:
- Quality Online Teaching: Essential Skills (5-week, fully online course)
- This course will assist faculty in designing, developing and implementing strategies that have been proven through the research to be essential to successful online teaching. The best practices include establishing and maintaining instructor presence in the course and developing and implementing standards that facilitate communication, interaction feedback and support.
- Quality Online Teaching:Advanced Skills (7-week, fully online course)
- Prerequisite: Quality Online Teaching: Essential Skills Course
- This course will expand the focus of strategies introduced in the Essential Skills course to include identifying instructor roles and responsibilities in the online classroom, communicating facts and dispelling fallacies to assist students in developing realistic expectations, building online learning communities, engaging students and effective time management.
