Argo Arrival is an annual tradition and the official kick-off of the academic school year at the University of West Florida. It fosters school spirit for both new and returning students. During this time you will make new friends, learn about UWF and the surrounding Pensacola area, including Pensacola Beach, explore resources that can help you through your college career, and most of all, have fun!
Argo Arrival beings on August 23rd with the move in day for first time on campus students. Move-in day begins at 8:00 am at all residence halls on campus, and Argo Arrival special events begin that afternoon!
The Office of Family Programs will host its very first fall semester kick-off event affectionately titled, “The Argo Parent & Family Stress Free Zone”. The Office of Family Programs would like to create a relaxing, comfortable, and welcoming environment for all Argo parents and families during one of the most stressful times of their lives...Freshman Move-In!
We are very pleased to announce our new partnership with the Fortis Institute Massage Therapy School, whose students will provide all guests with a FREE 10 minute massage. In addition, all guests will have the chance to eat great food, listen to comforting music, as well as reconnect with other Argo parents and families they’ve met through the 2013 New Student & Family Orientation.
Convocation is a ceremony that traditionally marks the official beginning of a new academic year in university life. At UWF, Convocation serves to bring everyone together to celebrate the new year and, specifically, to induct the first year students into the community of learners at UWF.
The ritual of Convocation signals the beginning of a college career in the same, significant manner in which the ritual of Commencement marks the completion of the college career. The President, Provost, Vice Presidents, Deans, faculty and staff join with outstanding student leaders to welcome students in their first year. Family members and friends of new students are invited to share the Convocation experience.
Join us as we shut down Target and bring you special deals to help furnish and flush out your room. Come get the good stuff before it’s gone!
Join the Campus Activities Board, Student Government Association, and Athletics for this amazing outdoor party. Wear blue and green to show your Argo Pride, and be ready to get wet! The foam dance party will heat things up, while huge inflatable water slides, random water balloon fights, and free ice cream will be sure to keep you cool.
UWF is heading back to the beach! Music, free food, paddle boarding, sailing, volleyball, beach games, and more are sure to make this the most talked about event of the week! Make sure to pack your Nautilus Card because you won’t want to miss out on the food and activities. Students can park for free at Park West (right onto Fort Pickens Road from Pensacola Beach Blvd, last beach access before Fort Pickens entrance), or ride busses departing from 9:30-10:30am from parking lot H in front of the Commons.
*Please note this is a non-alcoholic event. Be sure to wear sunscreen and feel free to bring water and snacks as we will be providing food and drinks only until supplies last.
Stop by the concourse to learn about the wide range of programs and services offered by the Division of Student Affairs. Don't miss this opportunity to find out more ways to get involved at UWF and collect free giveaways!
While in the Commons, why not head on into the Great Hall where you can fix your own ice cream sundae with all the toppings. It’s a cool treat and FREE!
Join UWF’s Office of Diversity and International Education and Programs for the 8th annual Cultural Explosion. The event is a multicultural celebration, complete with international food, music and prizes. For more info, contact (850) 474-2368.
Wellness Services, the Peer Educators, the Campus Activity Board, and Housing & Residence Life invite you to the fourth annual Rock Out the RedZone concert. The concert features Lion’s Ambition, a Seattle-based rock group that blends genres and captivates the audience, and DJ will keep the event live from start to finish. The event also aims to increase awareness of the RedZone; the time between the beginning of the fall semester and Thanksgiving break where students are more at risk for experiencing sexual assault. Rock the free food, rock the prizes, rock the concert, and Rock Out the RedZone!
