Current Research

I am currently working on Wireless Body Area Networks – issues, solutions and applications under the supervision of Dr. Dharma P. Agrawal in the Center for Distributed and Mobile Computing at UC College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The topic of my dissertation is "Modeling and Performance Evaluation of Wireless Body Area Networks for Healthcare Applications". My present work includes improving on network lifetime for such a network along with solutions to issues related to interference, QoS assurance and possible applications.

Specifically, my focus is on wireless body area networks over three aspects. One, how to use the sensors themselves so as to have a longer network lifetime and higher mean-time between replacements for the sensors. Two, a study on the behavior of sensors when deployed in the low-power, small-range network – in the eventuality of other similar networks around, with and without mobility. Three, how can such networks be used for ON-OFF and continuous control, reliably.

Research Interests

I am also interested in the areas of the Internet of Things, energy harvesting and green technologies, cognitive networks, signal processing and wireless control with applications to healthcare and other interesting applications of wireless networks. I would also like to expand my research in the field of secure wireless control.
