Alumni Programs - Award Criteria and Nomination Form

Read below to see our award categories and criteria. The nomination form for the 2020 Spirit of UWF and Alumni Awards will be available this spring.


The Spirit of UWF Alumni & Community Awards are awarded to UWF Alumni, Community Members, UWF Faculty, UWF Staff and UWF Students. Explore the award options below then fill out a nomination form at the bottom of the page. Only one award nomination form can be filled out at a time. Subsequent forms need to be completed if you are making nominations for more awards. 

 

An award presented for significant contributions, sustained leadership and service to the University of West Florida in the areas of academics, administration, student relations or university advancement. Significant contributions may include that of time, money, professional leadership and expertise, or other areas having a direct and positive influence on UWF. The recipient may be an alumnus or a non-alumnus, and one individual may receive this award per year. This award is presented by the UWF Alumni Association.

Award presented for significant achievements and/or leadership demonstrated by the recipient in his or her chosen field of interest or career. This achievement may include personal or professional endeavors and/or accomplishments, and recognition is not determined by service rendered to the University of West Florida or to the Alumni Association. The recipient should be an alumnus, and more than one individual may receive this award per year. An alumnus may only receive this award once in his/her lifetime.  This award is presented by the UWF Alumni Association.

An award presented for significant contributions to the University of West Florida in the areas of administration, academics, student relations or university advancement. These may be in the areas of teaching, community service, volunteer leadership, financial support or other such areas having a direct impact on UWF and a positive influence on the UWF Alumni Association. The recipient should be a non-alumnus, and more than one individual may receive this award per year.  This award is presented by the UWF Alumni Association.

Awarded to an external company, organization, agency, or individual that has partnered with UWF to engage in community-based research successfully addressing an identified community need. This award is presented by the UWF Office of Community and Employer Engagement.

Awarded to an external company, organization, agency, or individual that has partnered with UWF for the purposes of recruiting, training, or mentoring UWF students or alumni. This award is presented by the UWF Office of Community and Employer Engagement.

Awarded to an external company, organization, agency, or individual that has partnered with UWF to deliver a significant impact in the community in the fields of arts, health, leisure, or the environment. This award is presented by the UWF Office of Community and Employer Engagement.

Awarded to a UWF administrator, staff, or faculty member who has made a significant impact in the community through their teaching. This award is presented by the UWF Office of Community and Employer Engagement.

Awarded to a UWF student for outstanding contribution in community service, community based research or advocacy. This award is presented by the UWF Office of Community and Employer Engagement.

Awarded to a UWF administrator, staff, or faculty member who has made a significant impact in the community through excellence in innovative community engagement. This award is presented by the UWF Office of Community and Employer Engagement.

Award presented for making significant contributions to their field of endeavor and/or displayed outstanding community service early on in their career. The candidate will have developed imaginative methods and programs, displayed leadership and development of leadership in others, and will have established strong professional relationships. Primary evaluation of accomplishments should highlight contributions of recent years (nominee must be 39 years old or younger at time of nomination). The recipient should be an alumnus, and more than one individual may receive this award per year. An alumnus may only receive this award once in his/her lifetime.  This award is presented by the UWF Alumni Association.
