The Space Management function within the Department of Architectural and Engineering Services is responsible for the routine management of over 1.9 million square feet of owned space and 237 thousand square feet of leased property. This includes the annual detailed analysis and modification of the Customer Information Control System (CICS) Database for the Division of Colleges and Universities (DCU) Office state reporting and the Space Information Management System (SIMS) for internal reporting.

- Assignment of new buildings and unoccupied space
- Ad hoc reporting as requested for University Departments such as the Office of Sponsored Research.

- Analysis of Future Space Requirements
- Projection of departmental space needs based on requests
- Analysis of space gained due to new buildings (DCU Form B)
- Analysis of space removed due to demolition (DCU Form B)
- Maintain lease agreements for off-campus property
- Cost Data Base (DCU)
- Physical Facilities space file to IRM office
- Facility information to support LBR to BUD office
- Develop and maintain current facilities archives and space utilization for all University physical facilities.
- Assure facilities drawings are updated to reflect additions and renovation to spaces.
- Represent and maintain the tenant spaces on drawings and in database
- Represent and maintain the space class codes
- Maintain summarized space utilization information by semester
- Assist and support the Space Utilization Subcommittee
- Develop and maintain space utilization plans for University facilities
- Develop, recommend, and communicate space assignment procedures
- Analyze requests and recommend solutions to the Space Utilization Subcommittee
