Section's Bylaws

The bylaws of sections of the SOCIETY provide the framework for governance of its members residing in a given defined territory. Any amendment to the bylaws must meet the approval of the membership. Moreover, any amendment must not be in conflict with bylaws of surrounding local sections and those of the national Bylaws.

In 1997, revision of local sections' bylaws to reflect mainly gender-related terminology was initiated during May. The ad hoc bylaw committee consisting of Cliff Chang, Deb Hild, and Bruce Lysek has submitted the Section's bylaws to the Committee of Constitution and Bylaws for review. With approval by the Section's members and the national Committee, the approval date is noted in Appendix I .

In the proposed revised bylaws, the ad-hoc bylaws committee did not entertain the inclusion of a recall provision for local section officers. The recall provision, incorporated in the bylaws for new sections, has been discussed at various levels in council meetings.

The Secretary of the Section has the responsibility of safekeeping the SET of original section's bylaws bearing the stamp and approval of the SOCIETY.

Appendix I includes the Section's bylaws.
