Gift Card Application Process

At UWF, more than 65 percent of students demonstrate the need for financial assistance. The average cost of a business suit is more than $200 which is unaffordable to many students. Through fundraising efforts and generous donations, the Office of Career Development and Community Engagement will purchase gift cards to JCPenney that will be distributed to current students and recent alumni (graduated in 2018 or 2019) who demonstrate a need that aligns with the mission of the program.

How to Apply:

Starting January 6, 2020, current students and recent alumni (graduated in 2018 or 2019) can apply for financial assistance by submitting a résumé and a short video or written response discussing how they will be impacted by this program. The deadline to apply is February 3, 2020.

Details on how to submit résumé and video/response are posted in the following section.

Eligibility:

Financial assistance is only available to currently enrolled UWF students and recent UWF alumni (graduated in 2018 and 2019). Gift card recipients MUST be able to attend the Argos Suit Up! event in order to receive the gift card. If you receive a gift card through the Argos Suit Up! program, it will be considered estimated financial assistance (EFA) as part of your Financial Aid package

Announcement of Gift Card Recipients:

Gift card recipients will be notified of their award by Tuesday, February 11th, 2020. Awardees must be able to pick up their gift card at the Argos Suit Up! event on February 16th, 2020 between 6:30-9:00pm. Gift cards not picked up by 9pm on event night will be awarded to another student/recent alumni through the chance drawing process.
