National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)

The University of West Florida's National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the governing body comprised of Fraternities and Sororities that are members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council. At UWF, we have five active groups of the nine NPHC organizations. NPHC’s goal is to unite as a single body under the ideals of sisterhood, brotherhood, scholarship, and service to the community.

NPHC Council

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is a joint organization of nine historically African-American, international Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities. The nine NPHC organizations are often referred to as the "Divine Nine". On May 10, 1930, on the campus of Howard University, the National Pan-Hellenic Council was formed as a permanent organization. The purpose of the executive board is to advocate and provide collaborative programs for the NPHC fraternities and sororities at the University of West Florida. These organizations are devoted to academic excellence, service, and to promoting community awareness through educational, economic, and cultural service activities.

NPHC Membership Intake Process

The Membership Intake process to join an NPHC organization happens at various times during the year at the discretion of each group. It is highly encouraged that students do extensive research into the NPHC organizations by visiting their websites and reading historical documents about each group. New students can prepare themselves for an intake process by enrolling full-time in classes and maintaining an above-average GPA. They should get involved in service to the campus and community and work on preparing and updating their resume. UWF students can find out about intake or recruitment by attending informal sessions advertised through flyers on campus. For more information, contact Fraternity & Sorority Life at fsl@uwf.edu.
