The Governor of Florida appoints six of the members who serve five-year terms, and the Board of Governors appoints five of the members who serve five-year terms. All of these must be approved by the Senate. The president of the Faculty Senate holds one of those places. The final member is the president of the Student Government Association.
On Jan. 1, 2017, Dr. Martha D. Saunders began as the sixth president of the University of West Florida. President Saunders’ vision for UWF is for it to grow beyond its beginnings as a regional comprehensive university. She plans to build on the University’s strengths and its undergraduate traditions while creating programs that will attract the faculty and research funding needed to make the leap to the next level.
The President holds regular staff meetings with her senior leadership team, referred to as the "President's Cabinet."
