Do I display a healthy respect for electricity?
Look around. Electricity deserves a healthy respect. How much respect is it given?
The service cords for appliances, pumps, lamps, and other electrical devices are not damaged and the insulation is continuous from the plug to the grommet.
No splices or repairs have been made to the cords.
Electrical devices designed for grounded service cord plugs (3-prongs) are not altered or used in an ungrounded receptacle.
Temporary flexible cables (extension cords) are not being used in lieu of permanent wiring.
Extension cords are not attached to the building or fixtures and extension cords do pass through walk areas or present a trip hazard.
Multiple outlet strips are plugged directly into wall receptacles.
No extension cords are used.
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs) are used near wet areas and faucets.
Circuit breakers do not trip, even during heaviest usage.
Electrical cords do not pass through doorways, wall openings, and they are not subject to being pinched or squashed.
Covers are in place and properly attached to receptacles, switches, and junction boxes. Blanks and plugs are installed in all openings of breaker boxes.
Waterproof/moisture-resistant electrical devices are used in all exposed or wet areas.
When you are using electerical devices a circuit breaker is tripped, you see a spark or smoke, immediately discontinue use of the electrical device and report the incident to a supervisor for investigation and repair.
