Facilities- Art Education Workshop

Built in 1991, The Center for Fine & Performing Arts (CFPA) at the University of West Florida is home to the Departments of Art, Music and Theatre. In addition to showcasing the work of UWF students, the three departments in the CFPA invite artists, musicians, actors, and directors from across the world for the enjoyment and artistic development of UWF’s student body as well as the Northwest Florida community.

The Studios in the Department of Art are state-of-the-art facilities. In addition to all the examples listed below, the facilities also include high-tech lecture halls, seminar rooms, and a slide library with over 80,000 images from the history of art. The librarys recent acquisition of ARTstor gives everyone in the UWF community access to over 500,000 high quality digital images.

Facilities utilized during the BCF Workshop:

The printmaking facilities are equipped with a litho press, etching/relief presses, roll-out slabs, etching room, screen washroom, photo development room, and ink storage room.

Two years ago, the printmaking studio was entirely refurbished, to introduce the new non-toxic approaches to intaglio and lithography.

The drawing studio is fully equipped for drawing with still life materials. The studio features a variety of easels and risers. Window treatments allow for restricting views into the studio and control of light.
Ceramics studio The ceramics studio features a large work room with an adjouining clay mixing, glaze mixing and glazing area, an electric kiln firing area, and a covered outdoor kiln area. The ceramics studios are equipped with potter's wheels, a slab roller,and a huge selection of glaze chemicals and glaze spray booths for a healthy work environment.
Computer Lab The two computer labs are completely upgraded with new Apple Mac G5's, including the industry’s most powerful software tools.
