The Campus and Capital Projects Planning/Management function is carried out by a staff of five professionally trained and experienced project managers. Requests for their services come from a variety of internal sources ranging from work orders for building improvements, outright capital project requests from users, and the multi-year capital improvements plan by which the University operates and is funded.
Space Planning and Management integrates both capital projects planning and management with design records management, providing an active link between space requests and facilities modifications that may result in building modification projects. Space Planning documents much of its space data based on drawings stored in our design records archives. As space changes occur through modifications to buildings these changes are reflected both in changes to our design documents as well as space records. This accurate information feeds a substantial number of reports required by the University as it manages, insures, interprets, and presents it spatial usage to local, state, and in some instances federal agencies.
Design and Survey Records Management serves a vital records management function for the university, maintaining an up-to-date record of its physical plant and properties. These records are vital to planning, designing, modifying, maintaining, repairing, and management the physical campus. Were such records to not exist the cost to resurvey and reconstitute these same building records would run into the millions of dollars. This area also manages the survey and documentation of underground utilities and property survey data utilizing GIS/GPS (Geographic Information System/Global Position System) technology of underground utilities.
