UWF hosts 11th annual Women in Leadership Conference
The University of West Florida’s Aylstock, Witkin, Kreis & Overholtz Center for Leadership, housed in the Lewis Bear, Jr. College of Business, hosted the 11th annual Women in Leadership Conference on March 12, reaching a sold-out crowd of more than 430 students, young professionals and executives, as well as over 200 who attended online via livestream. This conference provides attendees the opportunity to learn from and connect with prominent leaders who have achieved personal and professional success.
UWF studies positive impacts of dance for individuals with dementia
A study by a team of University of West Florida researchers, conducted with Council on Aging of West Florida’s adult day care, The Retreat, uncovered insights into the positive impact of dance on individuals living with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
UWF assistant professor brings sight and hope to El Salvador through Eye Care International
Thousands of lives were changed in just two weeks, thanks to the dedication of eye care professionals and lay volunteers, including Karen Valaitis, Ed.D., assistant professor of clinical practice at the University of West Florida and chair of the board for Eye Care International. As a member of the leadership team, she participated in Eye Care International’s 2025 mission to El Salvador which provided critical eye care services to 2,800 patients, restoring their eyesight and improving their quality of life.
