University of West Florida Board of Trustees welcomes eight new trustees

The University of West Florida has received eight new appointments for the institution’s Board of Trustees. The Florida Board of Governors appointed Rebecca Matthews, Rachel Moya and Ashley Ross to the UWF Board of Trustees at a meeting on Dec. 19, 2024. The board also welcomes Paul Bailey, Gates Garcia, Adam Kissel, Scott Yenor and Chris Young, following their appointments by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Jan. 6.

UWF receives $125,000 gift to create scholarship endowment benefitting electrical and computer engineering students

The University of West Florida has created the Electrical Engineering Juergen and Helen Ihns Scholars Endowment through a $125,000 gift from Helen Ihns. The endowment, established in honor of Helen and her late husband Juergen Ihns, will provide four annual need-based scholarships to UWF electrical and computer engineering students.

University of West Florida welcomes new associate vice president of research administration and engagement

The University of West Florida announces Dr. Jerry Lin as the new associate vice president of research administration and engagement, effective January 6, 2025. In this position, Lin will lead the department’s work with faculty, students and staff to cultivate, develop and preserve the highest quality research, scholarship and creative activities, affirming UWF’s place as a leader in higher education research.
