Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.)

The BFA is distinguished from the BA by its greater emphasis on preparing students for professional Fine Arts careers.  Frequently, however, BFA majors choose to explore the boundaries and interstices between the various traditional media, in mixed media works that are now labeled new media, or new genres. Another distinguishing characteristic of the BFA is that entry into the program is by portfolio review. This review conducted by the entire Art Faculty customarily takes place during the junior year. Until then, students are registered as BA majors in Studio Art.

Studio Art Specialization

The same studio concentrations are available for the BFA as the BA majors: drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, digital art, printmaking, photography, and ceramics.
